Anal Fissure
An Anal Fissure causes pain, bleeding and itching in abdominal. It is a small tear in anus which generally occurs after hard stool. Barium Enema
Lower gastrointestinal series also known as barium enema. Large intestine which includes colon and rectum generally diagnoses using x rays. Lower gastrointestinal series is cause of problems like abnormal growths, colon cancer, polyps, ulcers and diverticuli.
Radiologist use a thick liquid called barium, which they put into your colon before taking x rays of your colon and rectum. This thick liquid makes the lining of colon and rectum which clearly shows the disease in them after using x rays. Radiologist also gets help in identifying the size and shape of these organs.
This thick liquid, barium create fullness and pressure in your abdomen and make you feel the urge to have bowel movements. However, that rarely happens because the tube used to inject the barium has a balloon on the end of it that prevents the liquid from coming back out.
X ray has taken in different positions so that different views of colon can be taken. Radiologists also perform x ray of your empty colon afterwards. This process may take 1 to 2 hours and may cause constipation and make your stool gray or white for a few days after the procedure.
For the accurate results your colon must be empty before the procedure. You have to follow some restrict diet schedule for a few days before the test like you might have to take more liquid like juice etc than the hard food, you have to avoid oily and suger rich food. Before the procedure you will be given a laxative or an enema so that your colon must be empty before the procedure. Your physician may give you other special instructions.
Biopsy
Biopsy is a test under which tissues or cells are taken for examination. To examine the cells or tissues either microscope is used or it can bee done chemically. This test can be performing by various ways.
Incisional biopsy or core biopsy - In incisional biopsy or core biopsy process only a sample of tissue is taken.
Excisional biopsy – In excisional biopsy procedure entire lump or suspicious area is removed.
Needle Aspiration biopsy – In needle aspiration biopsy a sample of tissue or fluid is removed with the help of needle.
This test is generally perform when the the cause and exact character of disease is in doubt. Vasculitis is examined using biopsy. Various types of cancers is also examined using this test. Biopsy merely samples a lesion, a larger excisional specimen called a resection may come to a pathologist, typically from a surgeon attempting to eradicate a known lesion from a patient samples are carefully. To see whether the disease is spread beyond the biopsied area, biopsy specimens are also carefully examined. If the margins are clear or negative then no disease was found at the edge of biopsy specimen and when the margins are positive, then it means the disease was found.
Bowel Anti-Inflammatory
Bowel anti-inflammatories are the type of drugs called aminosalicylates. Mesalazine, olsalazine and sulphasalazine are type of bowel anti-inflammatories which is used to control the bowel inflammation.
These drugs are generally used to treat inflammatory bowel disease and maintain remission. These drugs sometimes also have some side effects like vomiting, diarrhea headache and hypersensitivity reactions etc.
Buscopan
Buscopan is an antimuscarinic medicine contains hyoscine butylbromide which is used to relieve gastro-intestinal spasms (associated with irritable bowel syndrome) and genetio-urinary muscle spasms. It works by exerting an antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscle of the bowel. Its daily dose may be varying. Typical dose is 10mg 3 times daily whereas adult may require 20mg 4 times daily.
Some cautions have to be taken while taking this drug if you are suffering from oesophageal reflux, diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, high blood pressure, fever or in case of pregnancy and breastfeeding. In case of glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, paralytic ileus, pyloric stenosis, prostatic enlargement and porphyria, this particular treatment or procedure is inadvisable.
This disease also have some side effects like flushing, skin rash constipation, dry mouth urinary urgency and urinary retention, confusion, nausea, vomiting and dizziness.
