| Various Bowel and Abdominal Problems Part - 2By Ricky Parker | Biopsy Biopsy is a test under which tissues or cells are taken for examination. To examine the cells or tissues either microscope is used or it can bee done chemically. This test can be performing by various ways. Incisional biopsy or core biopsy - In incisional biopsy or core biopsy process only a sample of tissue is taken. Excisional biopsy – In excisional biopsy procedure entire lump or suspicious area is removed. Needle Aspiration biopsy – In needle aspiration biopsy a sample of tissue or fluid is removed with the help of needle. This test is generally perform when the the cause and exact character of disease is in doubt. Vasculitis is examined using biopsy. Various types of cancers is also examined using this test. Biopsy merely samples a lesion, a larger excisional specimen called a resection may come to a pathologist, typically from a surgeon attempting to eradicate a known lesion from a patient samples are carefully. To see whether the disease is spread beyond the biopsied area, biopsy specimens are also carefully examined. If the margins are clear or negative then no disease was found at the edge of biopsy specimen and when the margins are positive, then it means the disease was found. Bowel Anti-Inflammatory Bowel anti-inflammatories are the type of drugs called aminosalicylates. Mesalazine, olsalazine and sulphasalazine are type of bowel anti-inflammatories which is used to control the bowel inflammation. These drugs are generally used to treat inflammatory bowel disease and maintain remission. These drugs sometimes also have some side effects like vomiting, diarrhea headache and hypersensitivity reactions etc. Buscopan Buscopan is an antimuscarinic medicine contains hyoscine butylbromide which is used to relieve gastro-intestinal spasms (associated with irritable bowel syndrome) and genetio-urinary muscle spasms. It works by exerting an antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscle of the bowel. Its daily dose may be varying. Typical dose is 10mg 3 times daily whereas adult may require 20mg 4 times daily. Some cautions have to be taken while taking this drug if you are suffering from oesophageal reflux, diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, high blood pressure, fever or in case of pregnancy and breastfeeding. In case of glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, paralytic ileus, pyloric stenosis, prostatic enlargement and porphyria, this particular treatment or procedure is inadvisable. This disease also have some side effects like flushing, skin rash constipation, dry mouth urinary urgency and urinary retention, confusion, nausea, vomiting and dizziness. |
